At CyRoot Academy, we believe education should be accessible to everyone, especially those who have served our country, their families, and individuals facing unique challenges. Our Scholarship Program is designed to provide support for students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to pursue training in IT, cybersecurity, and other in-demand technical fields.
Through this program, qualified applicants can receive financial assistance to help remove barriers to education and open doors to new career opportunities.
MILITARY & VETERANS
Tee Off for Vets & Tech Scholarship
The Tee Off for Vets & Tech Charity Golf Tournament brings together Northern Nevada’s technology and veteran communities in support of a shared mission: helping those who have served our country successfully transition into rewarding tech careers. Founded by leaders from the CIO Alliance of Northern Nevada—including Bri Haralson, hosting sponsor Sherri McGee (former Nevada CTO and Douglas County executive), and Tim Galluzi (Nevada State CIO and former Marine)—this first annual event reflects a deep commitment to both honoring military service and addressing the critical need for technology talent in government agencies and beyond.
Tee Off for Vets & Tech recognizes that veterans and military families possess valuable technical experience and a strong foundation in critical areas like cybersecurity—yet often face significant barriers when seeking professional certifications and career advancement opportunities. Military spouses, who frequently relocate and face challenges maintaining consistent career progression, particularly benefit from the flexibility and transferability that technology careers offer.
WESTAR Architects Scholarship
“We wanted to give because we were so impressed by the young women and men we met. They were so bright, well-spoken, energetic, and their love for country was inspiring. It was great to see the leadership and preparation displayed, which is a lesson to us all. Our government is abandoning them with the shutdown. I just felt that we couldn’t—they deserve better and should know how much the people appreciate them and all they sacrifice.”
